Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Coordinator to join our team near Buffalo, NY. This role is responsible for processing weekly payroll in a fast-paced traffic control environment. As part of a growing company with multiple branch locations, the ideal candidate must have strong expertise in certified payroll, prevailing wage requirements, and New York State labor laws, and thrives in a high-volume, deadline-driven setting. Key Responsibilities Process weekly payroll for 100+ employees accurately and on schedule Assist with preparing certified payroll reports in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements Ensure compliance with prevailing wage laws and proper classification of employees Perform high volume data entry, including detailed job and project information into the payroll system Maintain and audit employee time records. Requires entry of correct prevailing wage rates based on job classifications and project requirements Administer deductions, garnishments, and taxes accurately Ensure compliance with New York State payroll and labor regulations Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve employee inquiries in a timely manner Maintain payroll records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information Work closely with operations and HR to ensure accurate job costing and workforce tracking Assist with reporting, audits, and year-end processes (W-2s, etc.) Qualifications 5+ years of payroll experience, preferably in construction, traffic control, or similar field environment Strong experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements (required) Familiarity with project-based/ multi-rate payroll Solid understanding of New York State wage and hour laws Experience processing high-volume, weekly payroll cycles Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and problem-solving skills What We Offer Competitive salary based on experience Health, dental, vision and other post tax benefits Paid time off and holidays Stable, growing company with a team-oriented culture Work Environment This is an on-site position based near Buffalo, NY, supporting a dynamic traffic control operation.
