Job Description

We are looking for a Payroll Clerk to support accurate and timely payroll operations for an organization in University Heights, Ohio. This role focuses on processing payroll for part-time and hourly employees while helping maintain proper deductions, leave reporting, and financial coding. The position also works closely with finance partners to support tax-related accuracy and routine payroll accounting tasks.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and process biweekly payroll for part-time and hourly staff in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Review payroll details for benefit deductions, leave balances, and earnings to ensure each pay cycle is completed correctly.
  • Coordinate with the Controller and other finance partners to help maintain accurate payroll tax payments and related records.
  • Post payroll-related journal entries generated through the payroll system and confirm they are assigned to the appropriate organizational and general ledger codes.
  • Support payroll accounting by verifying that labor charges are mapped correctly across multiple organization codes and funding sources.
  • Provide backup assistance for weekly and biweekly accounts payable tasks, including grouping invoices, assigning expenses to the correct general ledger accounts, and checking coding accuracy.
  • Help prepare required year-end or specialized payroll reporting, including 1042-S forms, with training provided as needed.
  • Contribute to payroll process improvements and assist with system implementation activities related to timekeeping or payroll operations when required.
