Payroll/Benefit Associate Employer:
North Canton City School District Job Overview:
North Canton City Schools is seeking a full-time payroll/benefits employee to accurately process payroll for district employees, ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as maintain complete, up-to-date records. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality while working in a collaborative school environment. Prior payroll, fiscal, school finance, or benefit coordination experience is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two-year college degree in finance/accounting preferred. Equivalent experience will be reviewed. Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment Computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Excel, Word, eFinancePlus, and staff portion of EMIS Ability to direct and work well with other personnel while maintaining confidential information. Effective communication skills Successful completion of BCI/FBI background checks
Essential Responsibilities:
Collects data and prepares payment of salaries and overtime Enters attendance and absences Gathers new hire information and enters data Assists in the preparation and remittance of payroll withholdings Assists in monthly payment of insurance premiums Assists in benefits administration and helps employees with benefit questions/issues Assists in the preparation of tax filings Works with other Treasurer's staff on monthly, quarterly, and annual procedures Works with the Treasurer to complete Affordable Care Act compliance, W2s, new contracts, salary notices, and severance payments Monitor and manage open enrollment periods, ensuring timely communication and enrollment for eligible employees Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, such as COBRA, HIPAA, and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Maintain accurate records of employee benefits enrollment and eligibility in compliance with district policies and legal requirements Process benefits-related changes, such as new hires, terminations, and qualifying life events, and update records accordingly Other duties as assigned by the
