If the successful candidate is new to PFT the starting salary will be $36,086 with annual increases per the PFT contract. Performs a variety of duties pertaining to the preparation and adjustment phases of a complex integrated payroll system. Responds to inquiries from employees which may require conducting research and/or contacting other offices for information. Essential Functions All specialties Examines records, transactions, and other related documents to obtain information. Reviews and analyzes problems. Notifies all concerned and involved parties of findings and solutions. Provides assistance to employees with respect to payroll related problems. When necessary, refers problems to appropriate District personnel for resolution; follows-up with staff in other offices to ensure that customer complaints are handled in a timely manner and to the satisfaction of the complainant. Provides assistance to lower level processing clerks. Qualifications Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Four years of full-time, paid computerized payroll processing experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities All specialties Demonstrated knowledge of: o standard payroll regulations, practices and procedures. o computerized payroll processing activities.
Demonstrated ability to:
o handle difficult situations in a professional and courteous manner. o learn to interpret and apply contractual provisions as related to payroll operations. o maintain accurate records. o learn EXCEL and prepare spreadsheets. o effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
