Job Description
We are looking for a dependable Payroll Clerk to support accurate payroll operations and related accounting activities for a workforce of about 100 employees in Saint Louis, Missouri. This contract position is ideal for someone who is comfortable handling both hourly and salaried payroll, maintaining precise records, and assisting with payroll-related reconciliations and journal entries. The role begins onsite, with some remote flexibility available after training, and offers the opportunity to transition into a permanent position.
Responsibilities:
- Administer biweekly payroll for approximately 100 employees, ensuring timely and accurate pay for both hourly and salaried staff.
- Verify payroll data before processing and investigate inconsistencies to prevent payment errors.
- Maintain organized payroll files and update records to reflect compensation changes, deductions, and other employee pay details.
- Prepare payroll-related journal entries and help ensure transactions are properly recorded in the accounting system.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and review balances tied to employee compensation activity.
- Examine differences between payroll records and the general ledger, then research and resolve outstanding issues.
- Handle sensitive payroll information with discretion while supporting compliance with internal documentation standards.
- Provide assistance with additional accounting tasks as business needs require.
