Full-Time About Our Client Our client is a growing renewable energy and construction company specializing in commercial and utility-scale solar projects across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions. Headquartered in Manassas, Virginia, they support large-scale electrical and solar construction initiatives with a strong focus on operational excellence, safety, and long-term project execution. Position Overview Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Specialist to manage and process multi-state payroll operations for both field and corporate employees. This role will play a key part in ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, reporting, and employee support within a fast-moving construction and renewable energy environment. The ideal candidate has experience handling payroll in construction, electrical contracting, or project-based industries and is comfortable managing high-volume payroll processing with changing labor allocations, overtime, and multi-state requirements. Key Responsibilities Process weekly and/or biweekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees Maintain payroll records, earnings, deductions, garnishments, and benefits administration Review and validate employee timecards, job costing allocations, overtime, and per diem entries Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations Manage multi-state payroll processing and reporting requirements Coordinate payroll-related onboarding, employee status changes, and terminations Support prevailing wage and certified payroll reporting when applicable Reconcile payroll reports and assist with month-end close activities Partner with HR, accounting, and operations teams to resolve payroll discrepancies Respond to employee payroll questions in a timely and professional manner Assist with audits, workers' compensation reporting, and year-end processing including W-2s Qualifications 3+ years of payroll processing experience Experience with multi-state payroll strongly preferred Construction, electrical contracting, or project-based industry experience highly preferred Knowledge of payroll taxes, wage laws, and compliance requirements Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, UKG, or similar platforms Strong Excel and reporting skills High attention to detail and accuracy Ability to handle confidential information professionally Strong communication and organizational skills CPP certification is a plus but not required Preferred Background Experience supporting field employees, technicians, or construction crews Familiarity with certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting Experience working in a high-growth or rapidly changing environment Comfortable collaborating across accounting, HR, and operations teams Benefits & Perks Competitive compensation based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company contribution Paid time off and holidays Growth opportunities within a rapidly expanding industry Collaborative and team-oriented culture Schedule & Work Environment Hybrid schedule based in Manassas, VA Standard business hours with occasional flexibility during payroll processing periods Combination of office collaboration and independent work This opportunity is ideal for a payroll professional looking to join a stable and growing organization operating in the renewable energy and construction space.Pay:
