Resume Cover letter References (minimum of three) Purpose of Position The Assistant Director manages activities/employees related to payroll operations, including ensuring employees are paid timely, accurately and ensuring all payments/tax reporting are made in accordance with federal and state laws/regulations, as well as University and UT System procedures/polices. Essential Functions Assists the Director in managing payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate employee payments for the monthly, semi-monthly and off-cycle payrolls. Oversee payroll compliance activities, including tax reporting, reconciliations, payments, and adherence to applicable laws and regulations. Manage payroll/timekeeping systems, records, and data integrity to ensure accurate payroll transactions and reporting. Review and approve payroll adjustments, additional pay transactions, retroactive payments, and resolve payroll-related issues in collaboration with departments. Provide guidance, interpretation, and customer service regarding payroll policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Supervise, train, develop, and evaluate payroll staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related degree and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in payroll processing or accounting. Or nine (9) years of an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications Supervisory experience. Experience in higher education. Experience with PeopleSoft HCM and Finance. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to independently research and resolve complex issues. Work Schedule Monday through Friday; 8:00am through 5:00pm. Requires occasional evening or weekend hours. Working Conditions May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
