Job Description

This position assists in the timely and accurate completion of payrolls for payroll cycles assigned. Enters and maintains records for electronic funds transfer data and serves as backup for Director, Payroll & Benefit Services. Associate's Degree from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education is required. Four years' wage-earning experience of which two years of payroll/accounting experience is required. Prefer payroll experience and experience with Ellucian (Colleague) Working knowledge of automated payroll systems and data entry. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, to include MS Word and Excel, Skilled in operating a personal computer, calculators and various office machines. Ability to perform mathematical and analytical skills. Ability to review, categorize and prioritize data. Ability to be detail oriented and work with deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to be dependable, a self-starter, courteous and discreet. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to provide guidance, assistance and/or interpretation to others on how to apply procedures and standards for specific situations. Accurately processes and enters data into the payroll computer system, compute overtime and leave and prepares pay adjustments for assigned payrolls. Scans documents as needed. Sets up, withholds and monitors court ordered garnishments. Assists employees with payroll procedures and related matters. Processes final steps for payroll cycles. Includes running all necessary reports, printing checks/efts and sending files to the bank. Sets up requisitions and track (employee benefits, unemployment, state taxes, miscellaneous deductions, child support, bankruptcy, tax levies, student loans and department requests). Update garnishment/child support listing as needed. Sets up per diem deductions. Completes
TRS7 &TRS8
forms which are reviewed by the Director Prepare EFT/Paycheck processing reports, check logs and bank funds transfer report. Researches & process all over payment issues &/or Payroll/General Ledger discrepancies. Assists with Payroll in-processing of all new hires and performs Self Service time entry set up and maintenance as needed. Sets up, enters and maintains employee direct deposit records and orders supplies for department as needed Reviews quarterly reports to check for errors
