00 Annually Location Wharton Campus, 911 Boling Highway, Wharton, TX Job Type Administrative Full Time Job Number 2609 A 036 Department President's Area Division Human Resources Opening Date 09/16/2026 Closing Date 10/1/2026 10:00 AM Central Description Benefits Questions General Description The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for the daily direction and oversight of payroll operations to ensure payrolls are accurate and timely. This includes the processing of payrolls, employee leave reporting, the administration of benefits, retirement fund activities, coordinating audits, and filing of State and Federal Reports in accordance with State and Federal guidelines and College policies and procedures. Requirements This position requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. A minimum of four years of related work experience in accounting, including payroll and tax reporting in a professional environment. A minimum of one
  • year supervisory experience in a professional setting is required.
Knowledge of payroll principles, practices, and methods is required. This position requires skill in evaluating and analyzing technical payroll and benefits activities and preparing detailed payroll and benefit reports. Proficiency with Word, Excel, and related software applications is required. This position requires the ability to handle large amounts of data, and handle multiple tasks concurrently with frequent interruptions. Strong analytical and organizational skills and excellent follow through skills on all assignments and projects is required. This position requires the ability to exercise considerable initiative and independence. Excellent interpersonal skills both verbal and written are required. This position must be able to maintain an established work schedule, prioritize work and multi-task. This position must establish and maintain effective working relations, have interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy. This position must maintain confidentiality regarding personnel actions; confidential and sensitive, payroll and termination actions, organizational plans, and legal actions. A criminal background check is also required.
