Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Bookkeeper and Payroll Specialist to join our team. This vital role combines the precision of bookkeeping with the strategic execution of payroll processing, ensuring our financial records are accurate, compliant, and up-to-date. You will manage a variety of accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and payroll administration. Your expertise will support our organization's financial health and operational efficiency, contributing to our mission of delivering exceptional service and maintaining sound financial practices. Duties Maintain accurate financial records using Sage 50 and Quick Books Online accounting software Process payroll accurately and on time, including calculating wages, deductions, taxes, and benefits while ensuring compliance with applicable laws. Perform bank reconciliations and account analysis to verify data integrity across all financial accounts. Manage accounts payable and receivable by reviewing invoices, issuing payments, and tracking outstanding balances. Prepare journal entries for various transactions Reconcile the general ledger and balance sheet accounts regularly to ensure accuracy in financial reporting. Generate detailed financial reports, including budgets, income statements, and balance sheets to support management decision-making. Conduct tax-related tasks such as preparing data for filings and maintaining compliance with governmental accounting requirements. Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial records. Support budgeting processes by analyzing expenses and forecasting future financial needs. Skills Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online) and Sage 50 Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, governmental accounting standards, GAAP, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and account reconciliation techniques. Experience with payroll processing including tax experience and benefits administration. Knowledge of non-profit accounting practices is a plus. Skilled in spreadsheets for data analysis and report writing. Familiarity with bank reconciliation procedures and account analysis techniques. Ability to perform 10 key typing efficiently for data entry tasks. Excellent attention to detail in account reconciliation and general ledger accounting tasks. Strong understanding of financial concepts such as budgeting, account analysis, and financial report writing. Experience with governmental or public accounting is advantageous but not required.
