Optimus Health Care-the largest provider of primary health care services in Fairfield County-is looking for dedicated professionals to join our team! With multiple locations in Bridgeport, Stratford, and Stamford, our mission is to be a lifelong health care partner, dedicated to achieving optimal wellness for the communities we serve. We are currently recruiting for a Full Time bilingual Financial Counselor for our location in Bridgeport, CT. The Financial Counselor is a member of a healthcare team responsible for working under the general direction of the Director. The responsibilities for this position are as follows: Responsible for verifying insurance benefits, assisting, and performing finance assessments for Medical, Dental and Behavioral Health. Provide case management for uninsured or underinsured patients referred to at the Center regarding their medical needs. Reviews, evaluates, and coordinates health insurance benefits available through public and private health coverage programs to ensure payment for scheduled clinic services. Provides support to registrars and other personnel to assure all payment options have been explored and available. Financial Counselor will be involved in pre-natal program identifying eligible pregnant women and enrollment in clinic and related hospital services.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION
Associate or bachelor s degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 2-4 years experience in a medical office environment; experience with insurance billing, collections, and working knowledge of third-party payor procedures and practices in a medical office; experience with Windows applications, proficient use of computer, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel. Strong communication, verbal and written and interpersonal skills. Ability to analyze and solve problems with limited assistance. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Have some familiarity with health care financial management systems and services. Knowledge of community resources. Some understanding of health services, insurance, business office operations, medical terminology. Must possess excellent customer service skills with a caring and understanding attitude.
