Job Description

Position Purpose:
As a member of both our front line and lending teams, the Financial Consultant will have the responsibility of providing exceptional member service with a focus on lending. The Financial Consultant will be expected to develop an expert understanding of all banking and lending products to meet our members' individual needs. Guiding members and identifying solutions by offering credit union products and services is a primary responsibility of this position. Roles and Responsibilities Banking Welcomes and establishes relationships by getting to know the members to provide wow customer service. Responsible for processing member transactions in a proficient and accurate manner. Open new accounts for existing and new members. Serve members through a variety of channels including walk-ins, online inquiries, phone calls and text messages. Recommend products and/or services that will be beneficial to the member. Complete the Financial Counseling Certification Program and provide personalized financial counseling services to help members build budgets, improve financial wellness, and achieve their financial goals Lending Responsible for loan processing, closing, and disbursal. Responsible for interviewing, gathering background information, and analyzing loan applicant's credit history to best evaluate loan applicants. Provide information and answer member questions about lending products and services Originate loan applications, make recommendations for approval or denial, and obtain all necessary documents for loan closings or denials. Make outbound courtesy calls to current members of the credit union with the goal of ensuring Thrive members understand the benefits of our banking and lending products and making recommendations based on their unique needs. Meet and exceed goals as established by a manager. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Job Requirements Basic Qualifications High school diploma or GED is required Cash handling and customer service experience. Some experience in sales. Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving and obtaining information, as well as advising or referring, which commonly require shorter discussions. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in credit union/banking Previous lending experience Associate's degree or higher Experience in sales Must be available to work the required schedule at any of our three locations, including Saturdays Must have excellent written and verbal (face-to-face and phone) communication skills including professional grammar and demeanor PC and internet proficiency Strong organizational skills with attention to detail Ability to multi-task Work Environment & Physical Demands This position operates in a professional office environment and requires prolonged periods of sitting, computer use, and communication via telephone and electronic channels.
