Full-Time Job Summary:
The Financial Aid Advisor will be directly responsible for carrying out the policies and procedures of the Financial Aid Department in compliance with all federal regulations set forth by the United States Department of Education.
Summary of Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Work to ensure full compliance with federal regulations set forth by the US Department of Education as they pertain to the Title IV funding process. This includes but is not limited to - FA packaging, FA funding, Return to Title IV Funds, Default management, etc. Carry out the mission of Caris College while interacting with students, coworkers, industry representatives, etc. Determine financial aid eligibility for prospective students. Complete the FA packaging process and ensure timely disbursement of financial aid awards. Serve a resource for prospective and current students as well as graduates regarding the financial aid process. Identify alternative opportunities for educational funding for those in need of gap coverage, etc. Assist students through the process of applying for these opportunities and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures set forth by lenders. Work with a third party processor to carry out financial aid procedures. Ensure department personnel regularly integrate the Financial Planning Experience Survey into the financial aid process and monitor survey results, taking action to improve results as necessary. Actively engage in continuing education/professional development opportunities (minimum of two/year). Maintains thorough knowledge of and ensures compliance with all applicable campus, state, and federal regulations and policies for Financial Aid Promotes teamwork throughout the campus, and utilizes teamwork concepts to achieve overall campus goals.
Summary of Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree preferred. Three to five years related work experience, with customer service and/or financial aid preferred. An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered. Must not be in default or overpayment on any Title IV Federal Aid Program. Ability to coordinate multiple responsibilities simultaneously and efficiently while meeting required deadlines. Ability to work a flexible scheduled to accommodate weekend and evening hours as needed. Must possess excellent leadership, customer service, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, customer management systems, and campus management systems. Proficient knowledge of all campus, state, and federal regulations and policies applicable to the position. Ability to function efficiently in a stressful work environment. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to hear and speak well enough to communicate with students, parents, and staff face to face and via the telephone.
