Summer 2028 Start Your Financial Planning Career at BGM BGM is looking for a motivated, curious, and service-minded student to join our Summer 2028 Financial Planning Internship Program. Our internship is designed to give you meaningful, hands-on experience and a closer look at what it means to build a career in financial planning and wealth management. You'll work alongside experienced financial professionals, contribute to real client work, participate in client meetings, and gain exposure to the many pieces that come together to create a comprehensive financial plan. Throughout your internship, you'll work with team members across different roles and receive ongoing coaching and feedback. You'll have opportunities to ask questions, build your technical and relationship skills, and see firsthand how our team helps clients make thoughtful decisions about their financial lives. What You'll Do As a Financial Planning Intern, you will: Assist with preparation for client meetings, including asset allocation, cash flow projections, retirement planning scenarios, and other financial planning needs; Participate in client meetings, track follow-up items, and assist with completing next steps alongside the lead advisor; Gain hands-on exposure to our portfolio management process, investment approach, and philosophy; Assist with financial planning analysis and learn how recommendations are developed for clients; Review tax returns alongside the team to help identify potential tax-planning opportunities and strategies; Work with our administrative team to understand the processes behind opening and maintaining accounts and resolving client needs; Contribute to projects that may include financial planning, wealth management, investment management, business development, and firm operations; Collaborate with professionals across BGM to see how financial planning can connect with tax, accounting, trust and estate, and other advisory services; and Build your knowledge of the financial planning profession through hands-on experience, coaching, and collaboration. Who We're Looking For Our ideal intern is someone who enjoys working with people, is eager to learn, and is interested in understanding both the technical and relationship sides of financial planning.You should be:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Financial Planning, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; Interested in pursuing a career in financial planning or wealth management; Interested in or working toward future CFP® certification; Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; Comfortable communicating and building relationships with others; A strong verbal and written communicator; Curious, dependable, and willing to learn; Able to work from our Bloomington, Minnesota office during the internship; and Authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis.
