This role supports Herzing University's Midwest Region and will be located onsite at one of the Midwest Campuses - Akron, OH; Brookfield, WI; Kenosha, WI; Madison, WI; Minneapolis, MN. The Senior Financial Aid Advisor - Team Lead supports Herzing University's mission through administration of financial aid funding for the University's students. This role requires strong customer service and attention to detail. This individual may work directly with students, providing counseling and assistance on all aspects of the financial aid process, or the individual may work to package, process, and award financial aid funds. Additionally, this individual assists their supervisor with management responsibilities for their team or region. A 40-hour schedule will be determined based on business needs Monday through Friday with a start as early as 8am with one late night scheduled until 7pm.REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of one-year Senior level Financial Aid or related work experience required. 3-5 years of Title IV administration experience preferred. Compensation is determined based on the qualifications, experience, and circumstances of each hire. It is uncommon for new employees to start near the top of the salary range. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a tuition waiver and reimbursement program, health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan. The hourly pay range for this position is $26.35 to $35.65.RESPONSIBILITIES
Meet with new students to understand funding needs, provide guidance on completion of the FAFSA and required documents, and review eligibility for funding options including Federal Title IV funds, scholarships, state funding, and military funds. Utilize financial aid software to review student documents and eligibility criteria to finalize financial aid awards. Provide gap funding options to students and support students in determining the best option to meet their financial needs and support their educational goals. Counsel students on financial literacy and wellness topics for the purpose of educating and encouraging responsible borrowing practices. Manage a student caseload, striving to build relationships and support students in resolving all matters related to their financial aid funding. Perform regular outreach to students requiring action including needed documents, loan acceptance, and past due balances. Revise financial aid award packages due to updates such as changes in course schedules, approved breaks, eligibility changes, and other factors. Troubleshoot disbursement rejects and resolve factors preventing timely disbursement of funding. Provide an average of 5 hours per week assisting with management responsibilities for the team or region. Examples may include, but are not limited to, management of Federal Work Study staff, managing team processes, responding to staff questions, leading projects, and assisting with onboarding new team members.
