Job Description

The Financial Aid Advisor must have exceptional customer service, organizational and prioritization skills; strong oral and writtencommunication skills; be able to communicate effectively, and have negotiation and problem solving abilities; as well as the desire to workclosely with a diverse student population. This position has the potential to be hybrid, and will require 3 days per week in the office.
General Duties:
Responsible for processing financial aid applications and counseling students and parentson all aspects of financial aid. Provide students and parents with loan counseling and accurate information regarding theapplication process and their eligibility for State and Federal financial assistance, including alternative financing, and/or institutionalpayment plans. Determine students' Title IV eligibility through an approved needs analysis financial aid software system. Review financial applications and consumer statements for completeness and accuracy. Process all forms in accordance withState/Federal and institutional regulations. Update tracking system for new applications and missing documents for timely follow upand completion. Participate in new student orientations, exit interviews, and open houses as needed. Performs other dutiesas assigned.
Requirements:
1-3 years Financial Aid Experience; 3-5 years customer servicepreferred or equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelor's Degree preferred, Associate Degree required; Basic Computer Skills, MS Word, Excel etc; Familiarity with student loan programs; Knowledge of Anthology; and Knowledge of processing aid for standard and non-standard terms preferred. Pennsylvania Institute of Technology shall, inits discretion, modify or adjust the position to meet the school's changing needs. This job description is not a contract and may beadjusted as deemed appropriate at the employer's sole discretion. Pennsylvania Institute of Technology (P.I.T.) has apolicy regarding post-offer background screening for all appropriate faculty, staff, and volunteers of the College. This policy includes butis not limited to verifying credentials, criminal history, credit status, and other information related to employment decisions. The College requires all new employees to have successfully completed background clearances. New employees must complete thebackground clearances prior to hire and, for those employees having direct contact with minors other than those described above, prior tothe time they will begin having direct contact with minors and every 60 months thereafter. The College also reserves the right to requireany employee to have a background check in its discretion during employment. Clearances required include a PA Statewide Criminal Recordsearch, PA Child Abuse History, and FBI Criminal History record fingerprint search. A criminal record may be considered justification not tohire or for employment termination, depending upon the circumstances and record.
