We provide integrated financial planning, investment management, and tax-forward advisory services — and have built a lasting reputation through long-term client relationships and a consistently high standard of care. Our advisory model is team-based. Advisors focus on guiding clients and managing relationships — not selling, prospecting, or building individual books of business. Many of our clients engage us first through tax work, and we build long-term advisory relationships from there. This is a salaried, stable environment with strong benefits and a long-term career path. The Opportunity We are hiring an Associate Financial Advisor as part of our long-term advisor pipeline. This role is designed for someone with early experience in financial services who is ready to move beyond transactional or support work into a more relationship-focused advisory career. You will work closely with experienced advisors, gain exposure to real client conversations, and build the skills needed to manage client relationships independently over time. Unlike many advisory roles that are primarily investment-focused, this role is grounded in tax-aware financial planning. You will regularly work with client tax returns and develop the ability to connect tax concepts directly to planning and investment decisions. This is not a back-office role and it is not a sales role. It is a development path into a client-facing, tax-aware advisory career within a structured, team-based firm. What You'll Do In your first six months, your focus will be on learning the firm's advisory model, building relationships with the team, and developing the skills needed to work directly with clients. Client Relationship & Meeting Support Participate in client meetings alongside advisors to observe relationship management and advisory discussions Prepare materials, agendas, and summaries for client meetings Document client goals, action items, and updates to ensure continuity and follow-through Tax Exposure & Client Conversations Review client tax returns (Form 1040) at a high level with advisors to understand income, deductions, and planning opportunities Sit in on client conversations where tax strategy is central to the discussion Begin connecting tax concepts to broader planning (investments, retirement, equity compensation, etc.) Develop comfort explaining tax-related concepts in a clear, client-friendly way Account Operations & Client Requests Support account paperwork, money movement, transfers, and DocuSign coordination Partner with Client Service Associates and Operations to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently Assist in gathering financial documents and maintaining organized client records Team Coordination Communicate client needs clearly to Planning, Tax, and Investment teams under advisor guidance Help coordinate deliverables across departments and ensure deadlines are met Stay aligned on meeting schedules, planning cycles, and client priorities Development into an Advisor Role Build knowledge of financial planning, investments, tax, and estate concepts through training and mentorship Gradually take on more responsibility in client communication and meeting participation Pursue relevant certifications (CFP®, Series 65, etc.) as part of your growth What We're Looking For Required Qualifications 2-4 years of experience in financial services (wealth management, brokerage, banking, tax, or similar) Experience working directly with clients in a professional setting Strong written and verbal communication skills High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities Professional presence and ability to work with high-net-worth clients Demonstrated stability and growth in prior roles Preferred Qualifications Strongly preferred: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field Experience supporting financial advisor teams or working in a wealth management or RIA environment Exposure to investment accounts, money movement, or financial account administration Familiarity with financial planning concepts (retirement, investments, tax, estate basics) Experience reviewing or working with individual tax returns (Form 1040) at a high level Interest in or progress toward professional certifications (Series 65, CFP®) Most importantly, you're looking to move from a transactional or support role into a relationship-driven advisory career. Benefits Competitive base salary and annual discretionary bonus — no commissions or sales quotas Hybrid work environment after the initial training period Generous paid time off, paid holidays, and volunteer time Safe Harbor 401(k) with employer match Medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage Minnesota Paid Family & Medical Leave (private plan) Professional development and continuing education reimbursement Discounted advisory services for eligible employees Why This Role Many financial services roles fall into one of two paths: transactional client service work with limited growth, or sales-focused advisor roles that require you to build your own book of business. This role offers a different path. At Stevens Foster, you will work with an established client base of executives and high-net-worth individuals, learn directly from experienced advisors and planners, and develop into a client relationship manager within a team-based model — without relying on sales or business development. You will build a strong foundation in tax-aware advising — a skill set that differentiates top advisors and is increasingly critical for high-income clients. Who This Role Is a Good Fit For This role tends to be a strong fit for individuals currently in: Wealth management support or advisor assistant positions Bank or brokerage client service roles Tax preparation or advisory roles looking to move client-facing …who are ready for the next step into a more relationship-focused advisory career. We are looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career in advising within a collaborative firm — someone who values client relationships, consistency, and professional growth.
