POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Financial Aid Advisor/Administrator (FAA) is responsible for providing students and their families with guidance and support throughout the financial aid process. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures while helping students access financial resources to fund their education. The ideal candidate is student-centered, detail-oriented, and experienced in financial aid operations, including FAFSA processing, federal/state aid programs, scholarships, and loan counseling. The FAA is dedicated to achieving the mission and vision of the Care Hope College (CHC).
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Advising & Support:
  • Advise current and prospective students on financial aid eligibility, application procedures, and award status.
  • Provide assistance with completing the FAFSA and other required documentation.
  • Explain types of aid available, including grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study.
  • Conduct entrance and exit loan counseling sessions.
  • Support financial literacy initiatives and workshops.
Processing & Administration:
  • Review and process financial aid applications and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Package financial aid awards using institutional guidelines and federal methodology.
  • Monitor student eligibility, including satisfactory academic progress (SAP) and enrollment status.
  • Perform verification processes in accordance with federal and institutional policies.
  • Maintain accurate student records in compliance with FERPA and regulatory guidelines.
Compliance & Reporting:
  • Ensure adherence to all federal (Title IV), state, and institutional regulations related to financial aid.
  • Assist with audits, program reviews, and preparation of reports (e.g., FISAP).
  • Maintain current knowledge of changes to financial aid laws, regulations, and best practices.
Communication & Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with admissions, student accounts, registrar, and academic departments to support student success.
  • Participate in outreach events, orientation sessions, and community engagement efforts.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person appointments.
  • Work effectively and efficiently with third party FA servicer.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, education, public administration, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in financial aid or student services.
  • Familiarity with federal and state financial aid regulations (e.
g., Title
IV, FAFSA, COD, NSLDS
).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with financial aid management systems (e.
g., Ellucian Banner, PowerFAIDS, PeopleSoft).
Preferred:
  • Experience with student information systems (SIS) and document imaging platforms.
  • Knowledge of
SAP, R2T4
(Return to Title IV), and professional judgment protocols.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish or other languages) are a plus.
Working Conditions:
  • On ground and remote office environment with frequent student interaction.
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours for events or deadlines.
  • May require sitting for extended periods and use of computer equipment.
