Job Description
Position Summary Guided by Ogden-Weber Technical College's values of Community, Learning, and Integrity, the Financial Aid Advisor II supports students by determining eligibility, calculating awards, and advising current and prospective students on federal, state, Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits, and scholarship financial aid options. The Advisor provides timely, professional assistance across multiple communication channels and delivers exceptional customer service to students, visitors, and staff. The Financial Aid Advisor II is responsible for processing and awarding Federal Student Aid, VA benefits, and scholarship funds; resolving financial aid issues and disputes; and maintaining accurate student records and reports. In all responsibilities, the role ensures accuracy, accountability, and full compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies, regulations, and guidelines. This position reports to the Financial Aid Manager. Essential Functions Provide professional, respectful, and service-oriented support in all interactions. Respond to phone calls, voicemails, and emails promptly and professionally to ensure timely support and clear communication. Meet with prospective and current students to provide guidance on all aspects of eligibility requirements for federal aid and scholarship programs. Assist in preparation of applications to state and federal sources of student financial aid for participation, program, and/or site approval. Review, package, and track financial aid and scholarships awards accurately while ensuring strict compliance with applicable policies and procedures. Advise students on application, eligibility, awarding, disbursement, academic progress, program changes, and manage R2T4 and withdrawal processes. Assist in the hiring process for Federal Work Study (FWS) students by determining eligibility and working with internal and external hiring managers and human resources. Determine student eligibility for award funds and apply appropriate, guideline-based action for students who fail to meet established standards. Assist in the preparation of Pell and Scholarship funding by calculating award amounts and adding funds to student accounts. Work with the Veteran Services Officer on VA benefits eligibility determination and processes. Exchange student eligibility and enrollment information with the Department of Education and Department of Veterans Affairs for aid recipients. Transfer data exchange files with the Department of Education. Process Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) applications to resolution including and not limited to verification processes. Maintain accurate and complete records related to Federal Student Aid, veteran education benefits, and scholarships. Maintain up-to-date understanding of applicable rules, regulations, and procedures governing Federal Student Aid and Veterans Affairs benefits. Reduce institutional risk and ensure responsible stewardship of funds by complying with financial, regulatory, and ethical requirements. The incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Associate degree or relevant experience in student services, workforce or community -based support roles, funding support, finance, accounting, education administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Two (2) years of customer service experience. Ability to develop effective, collaborative relationships. Demonstrated problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to organize resources and establish priorities. Demonstrated customer service skills in highly interactive, student-focused service environments. Ability to critically analyze processes and enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Ability to work under pressure with high expectations and deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft office software applications. Experience working with veteran educational benefits or government agencies is desirable. Spanish speaking proficiency is desirable.Physical Requirements:
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform most work; however, there will be some walking; standing; bending; reaching; and carrying light items. Special physical demands are not required for the position. Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.WORKING HOURS
Varied. Monday and Thursday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Tuesday and Wednesday 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Typically, this work will be performed on site at the main campus.CONDITIONAL OFFER
