Job Description

Diamond and Bridal Category Analyst Tapper's Jewelry is actively seeking a full-time Diamond and Bridal Category Analyst at our West Bloomfield, Michigan location. We are seeking a highly organized and strategic Diamond and Bridal Category Analyst to oversee vendor relationships, inventory management, and product performance within our Bridal and Diamond Categories. This role leads assortment planning, vendor partnerships, pricing strategy, and inventory management, while ensuring a compelling and competitive product offering. The position requires a strong balance of analytical thinking, market awareness, and a passion for the luxury market. Key Responsibilities:
Category Strategy & Assortment Planning:
  • Define engagement ring and wedding band assortments across key price points and styles
  • Attend market appointments, review new products, and make purchasing decisions.
  • Establish clear strategies for lab-grown vs. natural diamonds, complete rings and loose diamonds.
  • Identify opportunities based on trends, customer demand, and competitive landscape.
Sales Analysis & E-Commerce Support:
  • Conduct monthly sales analysis to identify key trends and opportunities, sharing insights internally and with vendors.
  • Monitor the business to determine reorder opportunities and liabilities. Negotiate with vendors on returns of slow sellers.
  • Identify products for online sales and collaborate with the E-commerce Manager to ensure timely website updates. Pricing & Competitive Positioning
  • Develop and maintain pricing structure to ensure margin optimization and market competitiveness
  • Monitor competitor activity and adjust strategy accordingly
  • Partner cross-functionality to align pricing with promotional and marketing initiatives
Inventory Management & Stock Processing:
  • Manage stock levels, replenishment and stock balancing strategies
  • Identify slow-moving inventory and negotiate returns to vendor
  • Analyze sales performance and key metrics to inform decisions Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Senior Manager, Special Orders and Sourcing to identify opportunities
  • Partner with sales, marketing, and leadership teams to drive category performance
  • Contribute to overall company merchandising and growth strategies
Qualifications & Skills:
    Industry Expertise:
    Strong understanding of the luxury goods market. Fine Jewelry and Timepiece experience a plus but not required.
      Vendor & Negotiation Skills:
      Demonstrated ability to build relationships, and network within an industry.
        Decision-Making & Judgment:
        Ability to assess business needs and make data-driven decisions.
          Communication:
          Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external collaboration.
            Analytical & Technical Skills:
            Strong ability to analyze sales data, identify trends, and leverage technology for inventory and vendor management.
