Job Description

Working within the Property/Casualty team structure and reporting to the Director of Property/Casualty Claims, the Property/Casualty Claims Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight, administration, and resolution of property and casualty claims across a large, complex academic medical system. This role manages claims involving auto liability, property damage, cyber liability, and financial products (D&O, Fiduciary, Crime), and other casualty exposures as assigned. The Claims Manager ensures timely, compliant, and cost-effective claim handling from initial notice through resolution, including investigation, evaluation, settlement, and litigation support. The position serves as a key liaison among internal stakeholders, insurers, legal counsel, and regulatory bodies, and plays a critical role in loss mitigation, and litigation management. EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in risk management, business administration, insurance, or related field Three to five years' progressive experience in property/casualty claims management, preferably in healthcare or large complex organizations Strong understanding of insurance coverages and self-insurance structures Professional designation (ARM, AIC, etc.) preferred Total Rewards The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland's Faculty Physician's Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographical location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/ training and other qualifications.
