Salary Range $87,597 - $121,254 annually , depending on qualifications and experience. What You'll Do As Exeter's Assessor, you will oversee all aspects of the Town's assessing operations while partnering with a professional third-party assessing firm.
Responsibilities include:
Administering the Town's property assessment and appraisal program. Maintaining equitable and uniform property valuations in compliance with New Hampshire law. Managing assessment records, exemptions, tax credits, abatements, and current use programs. Overseeing CAMA software and assessment databases. Periodically conducting property inspections and field reviews. Coordinating annual tax map updates and sales ratio studies. Preparing reports and submissions for the New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration. Assisting residents with assessment questions, exemptions, and abatements. Representing the Town before the Board of Tax and Land Appeals and in other assessment-related proceedings. Working closely with the Planning, Building, Tax Collection, and Town Manager's offices to ensure accurate and timely assessment data. Who We're Looking For The ideal candidate will possess: Certification as a New Hampshire Assessor (NHA) . Extensive knowledge of property appraisal and assessment principles. Strong understanding of New Hampshire assessment laws, regulations, exemptions, and abatement processes. Experience working with CAMA systems, assessment databases, and MUNIS software. Excellent communication and customer service skills. The ability to explain complex assessment concepts to property owners and stakeholders. Strong organizational, analytical, and leadership abilities. A collaborative approach and commitment to public service. A bachelor's degree and five to seven years of progressively responsible assessment or appraisal experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, are preferred. Why Exeter?
