Reporting to the Director, PSM, the Engineer, Process Safety will bring strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities that can be applied to equipment, systems, and program development, driving continual improvement opportunities. The successful candidate for this role will possess excellent communication and presentation skills, combined with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively, are supported by outstanding time management and organizational capabilities. Additionally, you are a skilled Process Hazard Analysis facilitator and an experienced incident investigation leader, with extensive knowledge of process safety management best practices and industry standards. This role is located at Nutrien's Deerfield, Illinois office and is not available for remote work.

What You'll Do:

Oversee process safety management programs for multiple Loveland Proprietary Products facilities and provide process safety engineering expertise to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations Engage with site personnel in a manner that demonstrates appreciation and respect for others. Ensure by example that collaboration, positive communication and willingness to help form the foundation of a service-oriented approach with sites and personnel Track, trend, and analyze site KPIs to drive continuous improvement of process safety and risk mitigation. Work with operations and support functions to identify process safety improvement and sustainment opportunities Collaborate on the maintenance of process safety information (PSI) as needed to support process safety, management of change, personnel training, risk assessments and risk decision making, emergency response activities, and regulatory requirements Facilitate process hazard analyses (PHAs), abnormal condition risk assessments, and support other risk studies, including safety integrity level determination (SILD) studies Provide oversight and guidance of the Management of Change process and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews Conduct reviews of proposed changes to facility designs as part of the management of change process (including participating in project design review meetings, as needed) Participate in and/or lead incident investigations of process safety events. Ensure that root causes are properly identified and appropriately addressed. Oversee the development of necessary corrective and preventative actions and track them to completion Review site emergency response plans and provide recommendations for improvement, as needed Participate in internal process safety management audits and assessments, oversee the development of corrective actions, and track them to completion Provide process safety management training to site personnel and mentor new engineers and leaders in the fundamentals of process safety and risk management Coach...
