We are looking for a Trader to join a highly talented team of professionals in our Investment Management department. This position partners with our Financial Advisors to serve our clients' investment management needs, executing trades with precision and delivering a consistently exceptional client experience. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to client portfolio success in a collaborative, high-performing team dedicated to integrity and excellence. We are looking for candidates that have a proven track record of educational and professional achievements as well as a commitment (and genuine passion) to provide exceptional service to clients in a fiduciary environment.
Responsibilities:
Review daily activity, including reconciling current client transactions, funding transfers, and the previous day's activity to ensure complete accuracy and resolve any discrepancies promptly. Coordinate and maintain various software systems (e.g., Tamarac for trading and rebalancing, Vise, Salesforce CRM) to support seamless operations and data integrity. Execute same-day transactions across all trade directions submitted by Advisors, including buys, sells, and exchanges in equities, fixed income, mutual funds, ETFs, and other securities. Perform daily trade execution and portfolio rebalancing for client accounts in alignment with investment objectives, risk tolerances, and approved strategies. Run advance cash reports to support fee billing processes, identify cash needs or surpluses, and manage liquidity requirements effectively. Ensure all trade-related matters, documentation, notes, and client requests are accurately entered and updated in the CRM (Salesforce) for compliance and audit readiness. Implement, monitor, and analyze investment strategies for client portfolios based on stated objectives, making tactical adjustments as needed while minimizing market impact. Monitor portfolios for rebalancing triggers, drift from target allocations, tax considerations, or other events requiring action using trading platforms. Assist with pre-trade analysis, block trading (where applicable), post-trade reconciliation, and settlement processes to achieve best execution. Collaborate with Advisors and team members on portfolio proposals, cash management, and ad-hoc requests to support client needs. Maintain accurate records of trades, positions, and reconciliations; support data integrity across systems and perform regular audits or checks. Stay informed on market conditions, regulatory requirements, and best practices to ensure compliance with fiduciary standards and firm policies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, finance, economics, mathematics/statistics, or a related field. 2-4 years of experience in financial services and/or investment management required (Experience in an RIA firm or Broker/Dealer environment is strongly preferred). Familiarity with CRM and portfolio management software such as Redtail, Orion, Tamarac, Portfolio Center, Morningstar, eMoney, and/or Salesforce is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, data analysis), Word, and Outlook. CFA® designation or other relevant professional credentials (e.g., Series 7/63, CFP®) desired but not required. Strong ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment with keen attention to detail and organizational skills. Proven capability to work independently, including autonomous decision-making on trading execution, rebalancing, or proposals while collaborating effectively with the team. Additional Details:
Salary Range:
$85,000-$100,000 (annualized) Benefit package includes health (medical, dental, and vision insurance), FSA and/or HSA plans, group and voluntary life/accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, long-term disability insurance (LTD), a 401(k) plan with an enhanced employer match, including pre-tax, Roth and after-tax contributions, as well as generous holiday and paid time off policies. This is an on-site position in our San Diego, CA office; however, we are open to someone working out of our branch office in Denver, CO.
