Job Description
We are partnering with a leading global macro hedge fund to hire an equities-focused strategist/trader to sit directly within a senior PM's pod. This role is centered on expressing macro views through equities, with a primary focus on ETFs, sector exposure, and thematic positioning. This is a trading-oriented seat within a macro team, where the individual will be responsible for translating macro views into equity trades. The focus is not on traditional single-name research, but on clean trade expression, timing, and positioning, typically over a 3-6 month horizon. The PM is macro/rates-driven, and is looking for someone who can bring an equity-first perspective, while helping to implement ideas through indices, ETFs, and baskets, with support from internal fundamental teams as needed. Key Responsibilities Generate and express macro-driven investment ideas through equities, primarily via: ETFs sector and thematic baskets index exposures Translate views on rates, growth, policy, and macro regime shifts into actionable equity positioning Identify timing and catalyst-driven opportunities (3-6 month horizon) Monitor positions, adjust exposures, and update views based on market conditions and positioning changes Work directly with the PM on trade construction, sizing, and risk framing Leverage internal research for targeted single-name support, without owning traditional coverage Ideal Candidate Profile 5-15 years of experience in: Hedge fund (multi-manager or long/short equity platform) Trading or strategist roles with a clear equity focus Strong experience expressing views through equities, including: ETFs / baskets / sector positioning index or factor exposure Demonstrated ability to think in: trades (entry / exit / timing) risk/reward and catalysts, not just valuation Strong understanding of: equity market structure, positioning, and flows macro drivers and their impact on equities
