Tax Associate Englewood, CO Full-TimeHybrid$90,000 - $110,000 /yr Posted May 13, 2026 Tax Associate Company Overview We are located near the Denver, CO area and we are smaller, dynamic public accounting firm with significant room for growth. We have a tight-knit, family like environment that values a healthy work life balance. We are continuing to grow and looking to add to the team. Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Associate to join our tax team and support tax compliance and planning for a diverse client base. The Tax Associate will prepare and review individual and business tax returns, assist with tax research, and communicate tax positions and filing requirements to clients. The ideal candidate has strong individual (1040) tax experience, solid technical tax knowledge, and the ability to work efficiently in a collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review individual federal and state income tax returns (Form 1040) accurately and on schedule. Prepare and review business tax returns, including S Corporations, C Corporations, and Partnerships, under supervision as needed. Assist with trust and estate tax return preparation and reporting. Conduct tax research on technical issues and summarize findings and recommendations for managers and partners. Communicate with clients to gather necessary documentation, explain tax positions, and respond to inquiries in a professional manner. Support tax planning engagements for high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) and businesses, identifying opportunities to minimize tax liabilities. Utilize tax software to prepare returns and maintain client workpapers (familiarity with UltraTax CS preferred). Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and filing deadlines, and assist with tax notices and examinations. Collaborate with senior staff to improve processes, complete ad hoc projects, and mentor junior team members when applicable.
Qualifications Required:
Proven experience preparing individual tax returns (Form 1040) and solid understanding of tax principles and compliance.
Required:
Strong technical knowledge of federal and state income tax regulations.
Preferred:
Experience preparing business tax returns for S Corporations, C Corporations, and Partnerships.
Preferred:
Experience with trust and estate tax return preparation.
Preferred:
Experience serving high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) or similar complex client relationships.
Preferred:
CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation or actively pursuing certification.
Preferred:
Familiarity with UltraTax CS or similar professional tax software. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a client-focused mindset.
