Job Description
About the Role As a seasonal Sr Tax Associate at H&R Block, you'll build on your first year of tax experience by preparing more complex returns, strengthening client relationships, and growing your expertise. You'll receive ongoing training, teammate support, and competitive hourly pay and incentive plan. This role is in-person at a local H&R Block tax office. Meet with returning and new clients to gather information, understand their tax situation, and prepare complete, accurate returns Apply the tax knowledge and client service skills you built in your first season to handle a broader range of client needs with greater independence Explain tax information clearly, answer client questions, and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant H&R Block products and services Use problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address unique situations, leveraging available resources and guidance when needed Build lasting client relationships and contribute to office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach Required Qualifications Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment¹ 1 year of experience as an H&R Block Tax Associate, including preparing individual tax returns Must complete continuing education and meet all IRS and applicable state requirements Strong communication skills, including explaining tax information clearly and asking questions to understand client needs Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions Comfort using digital tools and systems, including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT High school diploma / GED / equivalent Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services Experience asking questions and recommending solutions based on client needs Ability to work 15-35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season Why work for us At H&R Block, our purpose is simple: to provide help and inspire confidence in our clients and communities everywhere.
