- Title and Summary
Senior Analyst, Tax Overview:
- The Tax Senior Analyst, Tax Accounting and Reporting will support the preparation of the interim and annual tax provision and footnote disclosures included in the interim and annual SEC reporting (Forms 10Q and 10K).
- This role will also include the preparation of tax adjustments reported in the consolidated US federal tax return and other federal tax filings, as needed.
- Familiarity with tax provision and return preparation software, preferably OneSource Tax Provision and Corptax Compliance, desired.
- Reports to Corporate tax team.
- Hybrid 3 days per week in Mastercard's Purchase, NY office.
Role:
- Prepare corporate income tax provision calculations (ASC 740).
- Support preparation of tax disclosures for Forms 10-Q and 10-K.
- Prepare various global provision analytics and review procedures with strong documentation and support.
- Ensure tax balances are accurately recorded in financial statements.
- Prepare annual effective tax rate for US GAAP.
- Assist with coordinating, preparing and reviewing the global tax provision including regional tax submissions.
- Support consolidated provision using OneSource Tax Provision.
- Support consolidated federal tax returns including preparation and review of various tax adjustments and compliance filings.
- Perform monthly and quarterly tax account reconciliations.
- Ensure processes align with a strong internal control environment and Sarbanes-Oxley documentation.
- Collaborate with Tax, Controllership, Treasury, FP&A, and other teams.
- Research and analyze tax technical issues.
- Maintains current knowledge of tax technical issues and trends, including the assessment of the impact, as well as communicating the impact of such technical issues.
- Maintain and expand tax processes and documentation.
- Identify and execute on process improvements and efficiency opportunities.
All About You:
- BA Accounting; CPA preferred; MST, MSA or MBA helpful
- Large corporate experience and/or Big 4 accounting background with an emphasis in tax provision and reporting preferred
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to analyze and manipulate large data to extract relevant information for analysis
- Ability to identify issues/opportunities and to frame business questions
- Ability to effectively perform research
- Proficient in MS Excel and other data analytic tools including MS Power Platform and Alteryx
- Familiarity with AI tools is a strong plus, but not required
- Proficient in the use of tax provision software; familiarity with OneSource Tax Provision is a strong plus, but not required
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong business acumen and professionalism with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues in all functional areas of the Company
- Ability to work in a high-performing team environment
- Ability to work independently and in groups
- Working knowledge of Hyperion and/or Oracle Financial Systems is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines
