In this role, you will help clients navigate IRS and state tax matters, resolve outstanding tax issues, and move toward practical, compliant solutions. We are looking for a licensed Enrolled Agent and/or CPA with tax resolution experience, strong technical judgment, and the ability to communicate clearly with clients and taxing authorities. Duties Prepare, review, and assist with federal, state, and local tax filings as needed to bring clients into compliance Review client tax notices, account transcripts, balances due, filing history, and related documentation Identify and support appropriate tax resolution strategies, including installment agreements, penalty abatement, offers in compromise, currently not collectible status, lien or levy matters, and unfiled returns Communicate with the IRS and state taxing authorities on behalf of clients Prepare documentation, supporting schedules, and responses for audits, notices, and tax authority inquiries Analyze financial data to support tax planning, compliance, and resolution recommendations Collaborate with internal accounting and tax team members to ensure accurate records, complete files, and timely follow-through Monitor changes in tax laws, IRS procedures, and state tax regulations to provide proactive guidance Track deadlines, open items, and next steps for active client matters Support improvements to tax software, workflow systems, and internal processes to streamline client service and improve data accuracy Skills and Qualifications Active Enrolled Agent license and/or CPA license required Experience handling IRS tax resolution, tax controversy, or state tax matters Strong understanding of individual and business tax compliance issues Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax rules and procedures Experience with tax notices, audits, balances due, payment arrangements, penalty abatement, offers in compromise, liens, levies, or unfiled returns preferred Strong understanding of accounting principles, finance practices, and financial compliance requirements Ability to analyze financial data and interpret complex tax information accurately Proficiency with tax software, financial software, ERP systems, client portals, or document management tools Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple client matters and deadlines Professional, client-focused approach with the ability to explain technical information clearly Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate combines technical tax knowledge with practical client service. You understand that clients facing tax issues may be under stress, and you know how to bring clarity, professionalism, and steady follow-through to the process. You are detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
