Tax Senior - Melville, NYIn Office Opportunity (No Hybrid / Remote)
Compensation:
$90k - $130k Depending on ExperienceCPA is NOT required but is a plusPosition OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Tax Senior to lead tax compliance and planning engagements for a varied client base, including high net worth individuals, partnerships, corporations, and nonprofit organizations. The Tax Senior will prepare and review federal and state tax returns, provide tax planning recommendations, manage workflow and deadlines, and mentor junior staff. The ideal candidate will hold a CPA license, have strong technical knowledge across individual and entity tax returns (1040, 1120, 1065, 990), and be proficient with common tax software and bookkeeping platforms.

Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare, review, and file complex federal and state tax returns including 1040, 1120, 1065, and 990 for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and nonprofit clients.

Lead tax planning engagements for high net worth individuals and business owners, identifying opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and advising on tax-efficient strategies.

Supervise, train, and mentor junior tax staff and associates; review workpapers and ensure accuracy and compliance with firm standards.

Coordinate and manage client relationships: gather information, respond to inquiries, present tax positions and planning recommendations, and support client meetings.

Perform technical tax research and document conclusions, maintaining current knowledge of federal, state, and local tax law changes and their client impacts.

Oversee tax preparation workflows and deadlines, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work and adherence to firm quality control procedures.

Utilize tax software (Lacerte/Lacert, other tax preparation tools) and bookkeeping platforms (QuickBooks) to prepare, review, and organize client tax data.

Assist with tax notices, audits, and responses to taxing authorities as needed, coordinating with partners and external advisors.

Support business development and client retention efforts by contributing to proposals, client presentations, and value-added tax insights.

QualificationsCertified Public Accountant (CPA) license is NOT required but is a strong plus.3+ years of progressive experience in a Tax Senior role or equivalent, with demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing 1040, 1120, 1065, and 990 tax returns.

Strong technical knowledge of tax laws for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and nonprofit organizations; experience serving high net worth individuals preferred.

Proficiency with tax preparation software such as Lacerte (Lacert) and familiarity with QuickBooks for bookkeeping and client data integration.

Experience with tax return preparation and review workflows (Prep and Review processes) and quality control best practices.

Enrolled Agent (EA) credential is a plus, as is experience using tax research tools and advanced tax planning techniques.

Excellent communication, client-service, and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients and staff.

Proven leadership ability, including supervising and developing junior team members and managing multiple engagements and deadlines simultaneously.

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional ethics.
