The role of the State and Local Tax Project Professional is to support clients, partners, managers and staff in a variety of state and local tax compliance projects. The Project Professional focuses on four major initiatives established by the
Firm:
Profitability, Practice Growth; Client Focus; and
Brand Culture/ Development Tasks:
State and local tax compliance services, including multistate income/franchise tax and gross receipts tax returns, state/local business licenses and annual reports, and the opportunity to participate in other state and local tax projects. Prepare multistate and local sales/use and employment tax registrations. Assist with federal and multistate payroll tax research and compliance projects. Manage compliance processes for several clients on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual basis. Manage monthly tax calendar to ensure proper client communication and timely filing of returns. Handle appropriate income/franchise tax and business license correspondence, including the management of notices. Correspondence with state and local tax jurisdictions. Conduct tax research where necessary.
Profitability:
Ability to perform assigned client engagements within both a defined budget and a defined timeline. Achieve charge hour budgets and hour expectations established by firm. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple engagements and tasks. Ability to utilize all firm and department software efficiently.
Client Focus :
Develop strong analytical skills and deep knowledge of technical concepts. Develop judgment to identify and mitigate risks. Encourage behavior consistent with rules of conduct of the AICPA, OSCPA and Accountancy Board of Ohio. Coordinate and collaborate with direct supervisor on a frequent basis, to ensure efficient flow of information relative to client engagements. Demonstrate importance of learning and understanding the client's business, industry and resources available to provide value to clients.

Work Experience and Education:
Two year accounting degree or three or more years of experience as a successful bookkeeper or accountant. Experience in the preparation of corporation and/or pass-through entity income tax returns preferred. Working knowledge or previous experience of state online filing and payment platforms is preferred but not required. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Excellent eye for detail. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to manage a number of projects at once. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Confidence to work with a variety of clients (internal and external). Ability to work well under pressure. Strong organizational skills.
Organizational Relationships:
Will report directly to a Performance Manager who will provide any necessary guidance relative to work performance through the formal evaluation process.
Special Requirements:
Reliable transportation for occasional on-site client work required. GBQ participates in e-Verify.
