Job Description

Senior Tax AssociatePosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Associate to join our tax team and lead client-focused tax compliance, planning, and advisory work. The ideal candidate will manage complex tax engagements, review and prepare federal and state tax returns, conduct technical research, and mentor junior staff while ensuring high quality, timely deliverables that minimize client tax liability and maintain compliance.

Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare, review, and file complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, small to mid-size businesses, and trusts and estates.

Lead tax planning engagements and provide proactive tax strategies to reduce client tax exposure and support business objectives.

Perform technical tax research on complex federal and state issues and summarize findings with clear recommendations for clients and engagement teams.

Supervise, coach, and mentor junior staff and associates; review workpapers and tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance with firm standards.

Coordinate client communications, gather required documentation, and manage engagement timelines and deliverables to meet deadlines.

Assist with tax notices, audits, and inquiries from tax authorities; prepare responses and support documentation as needed.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (audit, advisory, client accounting) to deliver integrated tax solutions and identify opportunities for client service growth.

Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies, including use of tax technology and automation tools, to enhance service delivery.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Masters in Taxation or Accounting is a plus.3+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting; experience with partnerships, S corporations, and corporate tax issues preferred.

Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements.

Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax issues to clients and team members.

Demonstrated experience supervising or mentoring junior staff and managing multiple engagements and deadlines.

Commitment to continuing professional education and staying current on tax law changes and industry best practices.
