Job Description
About the Role As a Tax Associate at H&R Block, you'll begin a career in tax and client service through a hands-on, apprenticeship-style experience. You'll build your skills with training, guidance, and coaching as you grow. With support from advanced technology and a Client Care Specialist, you'll focus on reviewing each client's tax situation, offering clear advice, and building trust. This role is in-person and not remote. Partner with a dedicated Client Care Specialist who gathers client information, allowing you to focus on reviewing each client's tax situation and delivering a great experience Leverage H&R Block's advanced technology to prepare returns while you focus on reviewing results, ensuring accuracy, and providing personalized advice Use open-ended questions and active listening to understand client needs and identify tax savings opportunities Recommend relevant products and services based on client needs, questions, and unique situations Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions with guidance and resources Continue building tax knowledge through ongoing training to grow your confidence and ability to serve clients effectively Build strong client relationships and support office goals through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach Required Qualifications Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course 1 Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions Comfort using digital tools and systems as well as AI-based tools such as Copilot and ChatGPT High school diploma / GED / equivalent Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services Experience using client discovery skills to understand needs and recommend solutions Ability to work 15-35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season Why work for us At H&R Block, our purpose is simple: to provide help and inspire confidence in our clients and communities everywhere.
