Primary Purpose To account for and deposit all monies received in the tax office. Facilitate efficient tax office operation through employee training and positive public relations. Provide assistance to Tax Assessor -Collector and taxpayers. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD. Qualifications Education/Certification/Licensure High School Diploma/GED Special Knowledge/Skills Professional communication and interpersonal skills Exceptional organizational and analytical skills Strong math skills Ability to be tactful and courteous with patrons at all times, under all situations Ability to maintain strict confidentiality Ability to use computers, internet, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, tax software and finance software Efficient time management skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision Experience Minimum of 3 years of accounting, banking, or bookkeeping experience Strong cash handling experience and customer service background required. Major Responsibilities and Duties Provide fast and courteous customer service to taxpayers calling, emailing or visiting the tax office. Post in-person, bank lockbox, mortgage company, and electronic payments to customer accounts. Maintain accuracy in payment posting, collection of monies and payment balancing. Prepare and record deposits for pick-up by armored car service for ESC and tax office. Mail current and delinquent tax bills. Research, interpret and understand property tax laws. Communicate rights and responsibilities to taxpayers in the course of conflict resolution and taxpayer inquiries whether through verbal or written communications. Research, study, apply and communicate legislative changes regarding property taxes. Process and apply appraisal district changes, updates and corrections to taxpayer accounts and associated refunds. Administer tax refunds stemming from daily collections and appraisal district corrections. Maintain and monitor tax ceilings. File tax liens and collect escrow payments on mobile homes. Verify and issue tax certificates, including collection of fees. Serve as liaison between financial institution and tax office for matters pertaining to bank lockbox payments and deposit issues. Research request for refunds as well as void and reissue lost or stale dated refund checks. Assist with requests for receipts, duplicate tax bills and batch payment posting as needed. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal). Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
