Broad Functions:
Provides support to the Finance team by assisting with multi-state tax compliance including sales and use tax, property, and income tax, financial statement preparation, and consolidation activities. This role ensures accurate and timely tax filings, maintains supporting documentation, and contributes to the overall efficiency of the tax and accounting functions.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns for multiple states and local jurisdictions. Gather and analyze sales data, exemption certificates, and purchase records to ensure accurate reporting. Maintain tax filing calendar to ensure all deadlines are met. Research and resolve discrepancies or notices from tax authorities. Assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements for assigned entities. Support the consolidation process by gathering and reconciling data from various locations or subsidiaries. Ensure accurate posting of tax-related journal entries and account reconciliations. Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes. Assist with the import and preparation of data and financials to the consolidation tool and ensure Areas USA consolidation follows both, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and parent requirements. Maintain accurate records of all filings, payments, and correspondence. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve data collection and reporting processes. Compile and provide ad-hoc reporting. Support the Tax Manager with special projects and ad hoc analyses as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field 1-3 years of experience in tax compliance, accounting, or finance preferred. Experience with multi-state Sales and Use tax filings strongly desired. Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems (SAP) Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. High attention to detail and accuracy. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staff at all levels.

This position is performed within an office environment whose duties are primarily performed behind a desk. Employees in this position frequently operate a computer, read and write, and interact with others in person, over the phone, and via other devices. They move about within the office to access file cabinets, documents, office machinery, and other equipment. They may also have to do some light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time. Occasionally move objects weighing up to 20 lbs., and sometimes, but rarely, up to 50 lbs.
