About The Division:
The Revenue Accounting Division is committed to providing excellent service to the taxpayers of Texas to ensure proper accounting for state and local tax revenues and fair tax administration for all taxpayers.

Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week with occasional evening, weekend hours and holidays. Hours may change based on business need.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
Experience:
Two years of analytical or problem-solving experience.
Preferred Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting or business-related field.

Experience providing analysis or problem solving in an accounting or business-related work environment.

Experience using a personal computer in a Windows Environment and standard office software including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Substitution:
One additional year of experience performing analytical or problem-solving work may substitute for thirty semester hours of educational requirement with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years).
In this role you will:
Supports the section and division by performing tasks to administer the bankruptcy function. This function involves working with accounts where the taxpayer has filed for bankruptcy protection through the US Bankruptcy Courts to ensure state tax liability is included in the formal bankruptcy process.
Work involves:
Knowledge of the Bankruptcy Code, especially the particular chapter types under which taxpayers may seek protection.

The process to file claims with the US Bankruptcy Courts to recover amounts owed to the State for agency-administered taxes and fees.

Proficiency in using agency systems to research bankrupt taxpayer accounts to determine the delinquent amounts to include in the bankruptcy claim.

Timely action which is essential to ensure claims are completed and filed within the statutorily provided timeframe.

Making appropriate account corrections and applies payments accurately.

Providing verbal and written communication to attorneys at the Office of the Attorney General (OAG), taxpayers' attorneys and trustees, and personnel in Audit, Enforcement,and other agency divisions.

Completing tasks using automated agency systems such as the Integrated Tax system and Agency work Manager as well as retrieving appropriate information from systems maintained by the Office of the Attorney General (TAGO), Secretary of State (SOS), Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and the federal Official Court Electronic Document Filing System (Bankruptcy Court System) and Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER).Retrieving work related information from Accurint.

Examines, edits, and updates taxpayer accounts. Makes adjustments to accounts using a mainframe or personal computer and follows up to ensure taxpayer accounts reflect accurate, appropriate, and complete information. Examines taxpayer accounts to ensure proper actions and documentation are reflected on accounts. Determines resources needed to perform analysis. Reviews assignments and prioritizes workload. Identifies, determines, and documents problems in system design, forms, workflow, policies, and procedures and proposes action for improvement. Monitors account actions for completion or subsequent action.

Responds to inquiries both verbally and in writing. Provides information to co-workers, management, other agency personnel and the public.

Performs other related work and special projects as assigned.
