Tax Manager Tax Manager Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager and licensed CPA to lead our tax practice, deliver high-quality tax compliance and planning services, and mentor a team of tax professionals. The Tax Manager will oversee preparation and review of complex federal, state, and local tax returns, manage client relationshipsparticularly in private client servicesand ensure timely, accurate filing while maintaining compliance with changing tax laws and firm policies. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage tax compliance workflow, including preparation, review, and filing of federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts. Provide technical tax research and planning for clients, identifying opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and advising on tax-efficient strategies. Supervise, mentor, and develop staff tax professionals; assign and review work, deliver feedback, and support career growth and training. Conduct quality control and review processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with professional standards and firm policies. Serve as primary client contact for tax engagements; build and maintain strong client relationships, communicate tax positions and planning opportunities clearly, and address client questions and concerns. Coordinate with other service teams (audit, advisory, estate, and wealth management) to deliver integrated client solutions. Manage project timelines, staffing, and budgets for tax engagements to meet firm and client expectations. Stay current on federal, state, and local tax law changes and guidance; implement process improvements and update firm methodologies as needed. Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation, client presentations, and cross-selling firm services. Oversee special projects such as tax notices, audits, and compliance reviews; liaise with external advisors and taxing authorities as necessary.
Qualifications Required:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in good standing.
Required:
5+ years of progressive tax experience with demonstrated success in a tax manager or senior tax role, including experience managing tax engagements and supervising staff. Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations; experience with complex individual, partnership, corporate, and trust tax matters. Proven experience in tax return preparation and review processes; familiarity with common tax software (e.g., Lacerte, UltraTax, ProSystem fx) and advanced Excel skills. Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly and build trusted relationships. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, including mentoring, performance management, and staffing. Ability to manage multiple engagements, prioritize workload, and meet firm deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Enrolled Agent (EA) designation and/or experience in Private Client Services.
Nice to have:
hands-on experience with tax prep and review workflows and tools. Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master of Taxation or MST preferred. Willingness to participate in business development and occasional travel to client sites as needed.
