Job Description

Job Description We are seeking a Tax Product Manager to help build and enhance the next generation of AI-powered Sales & Use Tax products. This individual will serve as the bridge between indirect tax expertise and product development, translating complex tax requirements into scalable product capabilities. The role partners closely with Product, Engineering, and QA teams to drive product quality, tax accuracy, and customer success while helping shape the future of an AI-driven tax platform. Day to
Day:
  • Serve as the Sales & Use Tax SME for an AI-powered tax product.
  • Translate complex tax rules into product requirements, business logic, and testing criteria.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and QA teams to build and improve product capabilities.
  • Research tax regulations and validate product outputs to ensure tax accuracy.
  • Identify product gaps, root causes, and enhancement opportunities based on customer needs and tax risk.
  • Help shape product priorities and roadmap decisions while driving cross-functional initiatives.

  • 6-10 years of indirect tax experience with a focus on Sales & Use Tax.
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state tax regulations, including taxability, exemptions, sourcing, nexus, and marketplace rules.
  • Experience evaluating or improving tax technology, compliance processes, or tax determination systems.
  • Ability to translate complex tax requirements into clear product requirements and business rules.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on tax accuracy and customer outcomes.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, QA, or Technology teams.
  • Ability to balance customer needs, tax risk, business objectives, and technical constraints.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Experience defining requirements, prioritizing solutions, and evaluating tradeoffs.
  • Experience partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Data, or Analytics teams.
  • Experience with tax technology platforms (Vertex, Avalara, OneSource, Thomson Reuters, etc.).
  • Experience with SaaS products, AI-enabled solutions, or tax automation initiatives.
  • Product management or product ownership experience.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects or influencing product roadmaps.
  • Background in large-scale tax transformation or modernization efforts.
  • Interest in emerging technologies, AI, and solving complex customer problems.
