We oversee a complex structure of operating companies, real estate investments, trusts, and closely held ownership entities. Our environment requires disciplined execution, technical tax leadership, and proactive coordination with accounting, investments, and ownership. We are seeking a Senior Tax Manager to serve as the firm's internal tax authority, reviewing and challenging external CPA work, supporting sophisticated tax planning, and advising leadership on entity structure, liquidity, and cash‑flow impacts. Position Summary The Senior Tax Manager is a senior‑level, hands‑on tax leader responsible for all core tax execution and technical oversight across Demetree Global's real estate portfolio, operating entities, trusts, and ownership structures. This role operates with high autonomy, strong judgment, and executive‑level visibility. The Senior Tax Manager owns day‑to‑day tax outcomes, ensures accuracy and risk mitigation, and partners closely with accounting, leadership, and external advisors to align tax strategy with investment activity and cash‑flow planning. Key Responsibilities 1. Tax Compliance & Complex Filings (Primary Responsibility) Manage, prepare, or directly review federal, state, and local tax filings for: Partnerships, LLCs, corporations, and disregarded entities Trusts and ownership entities Own accuracy and completeness of complex tax matters, including: Partnership allocations, capital accounts, and special allocations Built‑in gains, ownership restructures, and entity changes Multi‑state filings, apportionment, and nexus issues Maintain compliance calendars, extensions, and estimated tax payments across all entities Serve as the final internal reviewer prior to executive or ownership approval 2. Oversight of External CPA Firms Act as Demetree Global's primary internal tax reviewer and technical authority Review, challenge, and validate work prepared by third‑party CPA firms Ensure external advisors fully understand: Entity and ownership structures Trust arrangements Historical tax positions and elections Identify risks, inconsistencies, or missed opportunities and drive resolution 3. Tax, Accounting & Cash‑Flow Integration Partner with accounting to ensure book reporting supports accurate tax treatment Review and resolve complex book‑to‑tax differences related to: Depreciation methods and lives Intercompany transactions Refinancing events and restructures Support cash‑flow planning by: Forecasting tax liabilities and estimated payments Advising on liquidity timing across entities and trusts Identify accounting or process issues that could create tax or cash‑flow exposure 4. Trust, Entity & Ownership Oversight Support tax compliance and reporting for trust structures and ownership entities Assist with ownership mapping, allocation changes, and equity movements Provide tax insight to leadership related to: Distributions Estate and succession considerations Family office liquidity planning 5. Tax Planning & Transaction Support Prepare and support tax planning initiatives, including: Transaction impact analyses Entity restructuring models Forward‑looking projections Assist with tax analysis for: Acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancings 1031 exchanges and real‑estate‑specific elections Partnership and ownership changes Monitor tax law developments affecting real estate, trusts, and closely held entities 6. Leadership, Standards & Process Improvement Establish and enforce high standards for tax documentation, workpapers, and internal reviews Improve tax workflows, calendars, and internal controls Serve as a technical resource for accounting, finance, and leadership Mentor internal staff as tax complexity grows Qualifications & Experience Required 7+ years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or industry tax roles Deep expertise in: Partnership taxation Real estate entities and transactions Multi‑entity, closely held structures Proven ability to independently review and challenge complex tax returns Strong technical judgment, ownership mindset, and attention to detail Familiarity with real estate accounting systems (Yardi preferred) Preferred CPA, MST, or JD strongly preferred Experience working with: Family offices Trust taxation Complex ownership and investment structures Comfortable interfacing with executive leadership and ownership Why This Role This is a true senior tax role, not a compliance‑only position. The Senior Tax Manager plays a critical role in protecting the organization, guiding complex tax decisions, and ensuring that tax strategy supports investment outcomes, cash flow stability, and long‑term family office objectives.
