Reports To:
Director, Tax Position Summary:
The Tax Manager supports the tax function by delivering accurate tax reporting, efficient compliance, and proactive tax planning across the organization. The Tax Manager ensures high quality work products, maintains strong internal controls, and partners with the Tax Director for continuous improvement and positions the company for automation initiatives within the tax function.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the
Position:
Tax Provision & Financial ReportingPreparation of ASC 740 tax provision for interim and year-end GAAP reporting and disclosuresMaintain tax accounting records, provision models, schedules, and supporting documentation.

Assist in completing internal controls and communication with external auditors.

Support automation of provision and forecasting models.

Corporate, International & Indirect Tax ComplianceCoordinate preparation and filing of corporate income tax, mining tax, international, and information returns. Coordinate responses to federal, state, provincial, and international tax authority audit requestPrepare and file indirect tax returns (e.g., sales/use, property, excise, GST).Track filing deadlines, notices, and estimated tax payments and cash tax forecasting Research and analysis related to a variety of tax advisories, transactions, and strategic issuesSupport implementation and maintenance of tax technology tools and automation initiatives.

Tax Planning, Research & AdvisoryConduct technical research on tax issues, legislative changes, and administrative guidance.

Assist in evaluating tax planning opportunities, discretionary deductions, and incentives.

Research and analysis related to a variety of tax advisory, transactions, and strategic issuesSupport tax analysis related to mergers, acquisitions, and corporate transactions.

Support senior management in implementing taxefficient structures and planning projects.

Cooperate with external tax advisors on complex or historical tax matters.

CrossFunctional Collaboration & Internal SupportPartner with Finance, Accounting, Legal, and Operations to ensure alignment on tax matters.

Support transfer pricing documentation and intercompany pricing analyses.

Continuous Improvement & Process OptimizationIdentify opportunities to streamline tax processes, enhance controls, and improve data quality.

Support automation and modernization of tax provision, compliance, and forecasting processes.

Continuously monitor tax law changes and assess implications for the company.
Skills and Abilities:
Technical & AnalyticalTax technical tax knowledge with the ability to interpret complex legislation and apply it to corporate, international, and indirect tax matters.

Strong research capabilities with the ability to synthesize findings into clear recommendations.

Operational ExcellenceExcellent time management skills and commitment to accuracy in tax provision, compliance, and documentation.

Demonstrated ability to streamline processes, enhance internal controls, and contribute to scalable tax governance frameworks.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across Finance, Accounting, Legal, Operations, and external advisors
Education and Credentials:
CPA designation strongly preferred.

Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in corporate tax, including exposure to tax provision, compliance, planning, and audit support.

Experience in the mining industry is considered an asset.

Good knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 740 reporting, Experience with tax technology tools, SOX/internal controls frameworks is an advantage.
