About the Role Ryan & Wetmore, PC is seeking a Tax Manager for our offices in Bethesda, MD; Vienna, VA; and Frederick, MD. In this role, you will lead complex tax engagements, advise clients on corporate and federal tax matters, and support strategic business decisions. You will work directly with partners and supervise staff while ensuring high-quality service delivery and compliance with tax regulations. Key Responsibilities Tax Compliance and Planning Manage and review federal and state individual and business tax returns Perform advanced tax planning and research for complex client scenarios Client Advisory and Strategic Leadership Serve as a trusted advisor, providing recommendations for business and process improvements Deliver advisory services related to tax, finance, and operational strategies Build and maintain strong client and community relationships Engagement and Operational Management Lead client engagements, ensuring profitability and timely delivery Oversee billing, collections, and workflow management for assigned engagements Evaluate internal processes and implement efficiencies Team Development and Mentorship Supervise and mentor staff, providing coaching and career development support Foster a collaborative team environment and uphold quality standards Continuous Learning and Growth Maintain current knowledge of tax laws and industry best practices Participate in firm-wide learning and development programs Qualifications CPA license required Bachelor's degree in Accounting; master's degree preferred 5+ years of public accounting experience with federal and state tax compliance At least 2 years of supervisory experience, including mentoring and team leadership Strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in business development Compensation and Benefits Expected salary range: $95,000-$135,000 per year Health, dental, and life insurance 401(k) plan and dependent care plan Paid holidays and Paid Time Off (16-21 days based on tenure) Professional development and training opportunities (AICPA, MACPA, VSCPA, GWSCPA) Summer days off program Paid professional memberships CPA exam support, including study materials, paid time off, and bonus upon passing
