Job Summary Carver Florek & James, CPAs (CFJ) is seeking an experienced Tax Professional to join our growing Missoula, Montana office. CFJ is a full-service public accounting firm with offices in Missoula, MT, Sheridan, WY, and Layton, UT, providing comprehensive tax, audit, accounting, and advisory services to a diverse client base. This individual will serve as a key member of our tax team, responsible for reviewing complex tax returns, providing technical guidance, interacting directly with clients, and mentoring developing staff. The ideal candidate will bring strong tax expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for helping both clients and team members succeed. Key Responsibilities Review individual, partnership, S-Corporation, C-Corporation, trust, and nonprofit tax returns for accuracy and compliance. Manage client relationships by serving as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for tax-related matters. Identify tax planning opportunities and provide strategic recommendations to clients. Delegate tax preparation and project work to staff accountants while ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met. Mentor, train, and develop junior team members through technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback. Research complex tax issues and stay current on federal, state, and local tax regulations. Collaborate with audit teams to provide comprehensive solutions for clients. Assist with workflow management, project scheduling, and engagement planning during busy seasons. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 8+ years of public accounting tax experience preferred. Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax regulations. Experience reviewing tax returns and supervising or mentoring staff. Open to move to Missoula before the end of the year Must have experience in a variety of industries and practices in a full accounting process Preferred Experience Tax research and tax planning experience. Leadership experience overseeing staff accountants or tax teams.
