We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead tax compliance, reporting, and planning for a portfolio of corporate and high-net-worth individual clients. The Tax Manager will oversee tax preparation and review processes, ensure timely and accurate filing with federal, state, and local authorities, coordinate work across public accounting teams, advise on tax strategy, and mentor staff to drive quality and efficiency. Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee all aspects of tax preparation and filing for corporate and individual clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
Perform detailed tax preparation review and quality control on returns prepared by staff and external providers.
Lead and coordinate tax engagement workflow within a public accounting environment, including assigning work, tracking deadlines, and ensuring deliverables meet firm standards.
Provide technical tax research and consulting on income, payroll, sales/use, and other tax issues to optimize client tax positions.
Develop and implement tax planning strategies and identify opportunities for tax savings and risk mitigation.
Supervise, coach, and train junior staff and senior associates; conduct performance reviews and provide mentorship to build team capabilities.
Serve as primary client contact for tax-related matters, communicating complex concepts clearly and building strong client relationships.
Collaborate with audit and accounting teams as needed to support year-end procedures, tax provisions, and financial statement disclosures.
Drive process improvements and leverage tax software/tools to increase efficiency and accuracy in tax workflows.
Stay current on tax law changes and communicate impacts to clients and internal teams.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; advanced degree or tax certification preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or equivalent role, including hands-on tax preparation and review responsibilities.
Demonstrated experience as a Tax Manager or senior tax professional overseeing engagements and supervising staff.
Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and proven tax preparation and tax preparation review skills.
Proven experience working in Public Accounting and familiarity with engagement management and client service expectations.
Proficiency with tax software and Microsoft Office; ability to learn new systems quickly.
Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills, with a focus on meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality work.
