ASSISTANT MANAGER - CORPORATE TAX POSITION OBJECTIVE
This position reports to the Tax Director and is responsible for assisting Tax Manager with the review of compliance workbooks, following up on the progress of tasks and projects, and tracking all applicable due dates. Additional assigned responsibilities include, but are not limited to, researching U.S. tax regulations, performing tax analysis, and supporting tax audits.MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY 1. TAX COMPLIANCE
Own the accuracy and timeliness of the group's federal and state income, franchise, and excise tax filings and annual reports — guiding and reviewing staff- prepared returns and workpapers, tracking all applicable due dates, and serving as the primary liaison with taxing authorities, including coordinating and defending tax audits. 2.PLANNING AND STRATEGY
Provide tax analysis of business transactions and structures, evaluating alternatives as directed by management. Monitor domestic and foreign legislative, ruling, and regulatory changes, assess their impact on the Company, and recommend and implement responsive actions to manage existing positions and capture new opportunities. 3.FINANCIAL REPORTING
Ensure the proper accounting and external financial reporting of income taxes — including the annual tax provision, true-ups, account reconciliations, and related disclosures — in accordance with applicable standards (ASC 740, formerlyFAS 109 / FIN 48
). 4.COLLABORATION
Serve as a tax resource and advisor to other departments and business divisions, communicating tax issues, impacts, and requirements clearly to non-tax stakeholders. 5.IMPROVEMENT
Own the efficiency and accuracy of the tax preparation workflow — strengthening workbooks, controls, and documentation — while promoting administrative efficiency and operational flexibility. 6.STAFF MANAGEMENT
Supervise and develop assigned tax professionals — assigning and reviewing their work, coaching each individual toward their fullest potential, and fostering a collaborative, cross-functional team that consistently meets quality standards and deadlines.QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in corporate income tax. Supervisory experience in tax compliance. CPA firm experience is preferred. B.S. in Accounting or Corporate Taxation. May require ~5% travel. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Professional. Good communication skills both in oral and writing. Ability to conduct research and perform tax analysis. Knowledge of using Corp-tax is a plus. Supervising a team of 3 or more. Problem solving and analytical thinking to adapt tax law changes. Must participate in the subject training and pass required certifications. Continued development as required such as: Legal and Ethical Training (LERN) and other internal and external tax related training. CPA preferred.
