Job Description

Tax Manager Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our team. The Tax Manager will work in a collaborative, client-focused environment, building strong client relationships while providing tax guidance, planning, and compliance services. This role will also oversee and develop staff and help ensure engagements are completed accurately, efficiently, and profitably. Key Responsibilities Supervise staff, in-charge accountants, and senior-level team members; provide coaching, feedback, and performance guidance. Provide industry-specific knowledge and guidance to team members to enhance client service quality. Serve as a primary client contact for routine tax questions, information requests, and engagement-related matters. Identify significant client issues and opportunities and develop recommendations and solutions in coordination with management. Build and maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities to develop new client contacts. Provide effective and professional verbal and written communication with clients, team members, and third parties. Monitor engagement budgets, project profitability, deadlines, and overall engagement performance. Provide comprehensive tax planning and advisory services based on clients' business and financial needs. Review tax workpapers, financial reports, tax returns, management letters, and related engagement documentation for accuracy and completeness. Perform tax-related procedures and other engagement activities as required. Handle federal and state regulatory and tax reporting matters, including responding to tax notices and assisting clients during tax audits. Communicate directly with attorneys, brokers, taxing authorities, and other third parties when appropriate. Support the professional development and training of tax staff and contribute to a collaborative team environment. Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal and state tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or a related discipline. Minimum of 5 years of experience in public accounting. Strong knowledge of federal and state tax compliance and planning. Experience reviewing tax returns, workpapers, and related financial documentation. Strong client service, communication, and relationship-building skills. Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and develop accounting/tax professionals. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements, priorities, and deadlines. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA certification is preferred but not required.
