T eam Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Assistant Tax Compliance Manager . The Assistant Tax Compliance Manager reports to the Tax Compliance Manager . The primary job duties of this position include: Manage the audit function of the division, reviewing the work for the audit staff, and handling tax inquiries Initiates or responds to taxpayer inquiries and provides advanced transaction privilege tax assistance as well as resolving issues with licensing, reporting, and collections. Work with the Arizona Department of Revenue to ensure taxpayer issues are resolved, and all concerns are addressed accurately and efficiently Performs complex audits Assists the Tax Compliance Manager with the administration of the Division, including encouraging, educating, mentoring, and training Tax Compliance Division staff. In addition to possessing the ability to live out our core and functional values daily, candidates must possess the following requirements: Undergraduate degree or equivalent job-related experience. 6 years of extensive customer service experience. 5 years of local or State Transaction Privilege Tax auditing. 5 years of legal interpretation of tax code, law, policies, and regulations. 5 years of analytical research, including but not limited to descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive. 3 years of relationship management, including but not limited to training, mentoring, and guiding. 1-2 years of Tax Compliance Administration. 1-2 years of public policy or working with the legislative process. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS
Valid Driver's License; Arizona Department of Revenue Auditor Certification; Arizona Department of Revenue Train the Trainer (T3) Certification (preferred) This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Exempt - ineligible for overtime compensation. This position has been identified as an eligible position for a Hybrid or Remote work agreement. Modified work privileges are approved at the sole discretion of the department director; as such, the department reserves the right to modify or discontinue modified work arrangements at any point. Regardless of work location (Remote, On-Site, or Hybrid) Town of Gilbert employees are required to reside in the state of Arizona.
