Job Description
Position Summary We are seeking a Tax Manager to join our growing team. The ideal candidate has strong public accounting tax experience, enjoys building client relationships, and is passionate about mentoring and developing staff. This position follows a hybrid work schedule outside of busy season , allowing flexibility while maintaining collaboration with the team. During busy season, team members are expected to primarily work from the office to best serve our clients and support one another. As a Tax Manager, you'll manage client engagements, review tax returns, develop staff, and work directly with firm leadership on tax planning, client service, and operational initiatives. You'll have a meaningful voice in business decisions and the opportunity to help shape the future direction of the firm. While this position is posted as a Tax Manager, highly qualified candidates may be hired directly as a Senior Tax Manager. Title and compensation will be determined based on experience, technical expertise, leadership ability, and overall qualifications. Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of business and individual tax clients. Review federal and state individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, fiduciary, and nonprofit tax returns. Prepare complex tax returns as needed. Research federal and state tax issues. Develop proactive tax planning strategies for clients. Mentor, train, and develop staff accountants. Review staff work and provide constructive feedback. Perform light bookkeeping duties when necessary. Build and maintain strong client relationships. Identify opportunities to improve firm processes through technology and automation. Work directly with firm leadership on operational initiatives and business decisions. Assist with practice development and client growth opportunities. Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required. Minimum of four tax seasons of public accounting experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns required. CPA Preferred Demonstrated leadership experience or a strong desire to mentor and develop staff. Strong understanding of federal income tax principles. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines. Commitment to providing exceptional client service. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Experience with Lacerte Tax software is a plus. Experience with QuickBooks Online, SafeSend, SurePrep, Karbon, or other cloud-based accounting software is a plus.
