Job Description:
A growing boutique CPA firm in East Brunswick, NJ is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its team in a primarily review-focused capacity. This opportunity is ideal for a technically strong CPA who enjoys reviewing complex tax returns but prefers limited client interaction and minimal team-management responsibilities. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement and the opportunity to join a collaborative firm that is continuing to expand. Responsibilities Perform detailed reviews of federal, state, and local tax returns. Review returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and closely held businesses. Identify technical issues, ensure accuracy, and confirm compliance with applicable tax regulations. Provide review notes and guidance to tax preparers when necessary. Research and resolve complex tax matters. Assist with tax planning and special projects as needed. Maintain current knowledge of changes in federal, state, and local tax laws. Support the firm during peak tax seasons while maintaining quality and turnaround expectations. Qualifications Active CPA license required. At least 5 years of public accounting tax experience. Strong experience reviewing complex tax returns. Broad, generalist tax experience across individuals and business entities. Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local taxation. Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Comfortable working in a role with limited client interaction and little to no staff-management responsibility. Willingness to work within a growing boutique CPA firm. Ability to work on a hybrid schedule in the firm's East Brunswick, NJ office. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to remain technically focused without being responsible for extensive business development, client management, or team supervision.
