Job Description

Tax Manager (100% Remote)
Salary Range:
$115,000 - $150,000 / yearPosition OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Manager to lead our tax compliance, planning, and reporting activities. In this 100% remote role, you will oversee tax return preparation, ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and identify strategic tax-saving opportunities. You will manage a talented virtual team and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
Key ResponsibilitiesTax Compliance & AccountingOversee Returns:
Lead preparation and review of federal, state, and local income tax returns.
Manage Provisions:
Drive month-end and year-end tax provision processes under ASC 740.
Audit Defense:
Coordinate examinations and correspondence with tax authorities and external counsel.
Strategy & AdvisoryTax Planning:
Develop and execute strategies to minimize liabilities and support business goals.
M&A Support:
Provide due diligence and tax structuring for mergers and acquisitions.
Executive Reporting:
Present clear tax analyses, memos, and reports to senior leadership.
Leadership & OperationsTeam Leadership:
Supervise, mentor, and develop a distributed team of tax professionals.
Process Improvement:
Implement tax technology and controls to increase efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner virtually with finance, treasury, legal, and operations.
QualificationsExperience & EducationCertification:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
Experience:
Minimum 5+ years of progressive corporate or public tax experience.
Leadership:
Proven track record of supervising and developing tax staff in a hybrid or remote environment.
Technical SkillsTax Code:
Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and ASC 740.
Software:
Proficiency with tax compliance tools; ProSystem fx experience is a strong plus.
Fixed Assets:
Experience with Fixed Assets modules and related reporting is preferred.
Remote Work CompetenciesCommunication:
Ability to explain complex tax issues clearly to non-tax stakeholders via virtual channels.
Time Management:
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines independently.
