It becomes about people. The people above you. The people around you. And whether the people running the firm make your life easier… or significantly harder. Because most Tax Managers do not leave because they dislike tax. They leave because they are tired of being trusted with million dollar clients, but not trusted to make simple decisions, managing teams while still being micromanaged themselves, or being expected to "lead" without ever being given real influence. This firm is where people end up once they've had enough of all of the above. Medium sized. Established. Quietly excellent. The quality of work is what you would expect from a much larger firm, but the day to day experience is very different. Calmer. More human. Built on trust rather than pressure. They are not hiring to replace burnt out staff. They are hiring because they are turning away new clients, particularly within their growing nonprofit practice. As a result, they are looking for a Tax Manager with strong Form 990 experience who can become a key resource for both clients and the wider team. The firm has been part of the local community since the 1980s and it shows. Growth has happened naturally through referrals, long term client relationships, and doing good work properly. The goal now is to keep growing, but sustainably. Partners are visible, approachable, and involved. Decisions are made with people in mind, not just utilisation metrics. This is not a churn and burn environment. Staff turnover is extremely low because people are treated like adults. There is flexibility, respect for personal time, and a genuine focus on building careers people can actually sustain long term. Busy season exists, but burnout does not. Hours ramp up later than most firms, usually around March, and peak at around 55 hours during the weeks leading up to April 15. In this role, you'll work across a variety of tax engagements, but nonprofit organisations make up a significant part of the client base. Strong Form 990 preparation and review experience is therefore essential, as you'll be expected to oversee engagements, support staff, and act as a trusted advisor to clients. Hybrid is preferred, however remote working may be available longer term. Ideally you'll be located within approximately 80 miles of West Palm Beach and available to attend the office when needed. Florida based candidates are preferred. Requirements 5+ years of recent Public Accounting tax experience Strong Form 990 preparation and review experience Experience reviewing the work of others Experience with 1040s, 1065s, and 1041s Nonprofit client experience is highly desirable Experience with HNW clients, partnerships, trusts, and foundations would be beneficial EA or CPA is helpful, but not essential They care far more about work ethic, attitude, and hiring good people who want to be part of a long term team.
